Swim Programs Overview

Atomic City Aquatic Club (ACAC) is a comprehensive, competitive swim program for young people, and has been providing swimming instruction and competition since its inception in 1951. ACAC uses a “progressive” program of instruction to develop the swimmer physically, mentally, and emotionally.  In order to reach peak performance in a swimmer’s career, a well-defined long-term approach of gradually increasing degrees of commitment is essential.

There are 2 major swim programs offered today:

ACAC Learn-to-Swim: Students of all ages are taught at their own pace in a very gradual manner to swim to the nearest point of safety. Individual and Group Lessons are available, ages 2 years – adult.

ACAC Competitive Swimming: We teach and perfect all four competitive strokes, and emphasize the importance of streamlining, kicking, body position and body awareness. Our stroke progressions allow athletes to sequentially build upon mastered skills. The emphasis in the early stage of participation will be placed on developing technique skills and a love for the sport. In the later years, a more demanding physical and psychological challenge will be introduced into the training program. Our swimmers acquire and hone skills that promote lifelong achievement in all arenas: teamwork, sportsmanship, focus, and goal setting. Our athletes gain enhanced self-esteem and self-reliance through every conquered hurdle.
